The designation of CBPP is a recognized symbol of excellence and achievement in the areas of brand protection and intellectual property investigations. The purpose of the certification is to allow Brand Protection professionals whose commitment to excellence is above the industry standard to qualify their expertise and further their knowledge through association training. Whenever a client retains a member, they will know that they have retained an individual with superior knowledge and training in Brand Protection issues. Because of the high standards of the ACBPP, several components must be successfully completed by candidates in order to be considered a Certified Brand Protection Professional.
Membership Application
All candidates for membership are required to have 3 years of extensive experience in Brand Protection issues and complete an application outlining their training and experience. Applications are available in PDF Format or online.
Certification Examination
In addition to completing the Application, applicants will be required to take the Certified Brand Protection Professional Exam.
The examination consists of multiple choice and true or false questions relating to Intellectual Property and Brand Protection issues. Areas of the exam will deal with royalty compliance; counterfeiting and diversion issues; patents; trademarks and copyright infringement issues as well as general issues pertaining to intellectual property matters.
Grandfathering Provision
Candidates who submit their applications between May 1, 2008 and December 31, 2010 will be exempt from the written exam if they can demonstrate and document considerable experience and training in Brand Protection Practices.
